About Me
My name is Heather Oxendale. I am an Art Therapist and Marriage and Family Therapy licensure candidate. I work in central Minnesota, primarily with teens and young adults with significant mental health issues. I wrote my Master's thesis on providing Adlerian Group therapy to Transgender teens.
My education background includes over 7 years of art classes between two schools. I've completed an Associates in Fine Art and Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Media. I grew to love Photography more than any other medium during my education. Then I went on to complete a Master's in Adlerian Psychotherapy and Counseling in Art Therapy.
I am a very process based artist and I enjoy learning new techniques, especially those used in the early days of photography, such as liquid emulsion and pinhole methods. Working with a process that is finicky or tough to control keeps me engaged in the work. I find these methods exciting and a fun way to get in touch with the past. My content in Photography tends to jump around from subject to subject, however a common theme has been found objects, dilapidated houses and farms, rural decay, and landscapes.
This website is a place for me to share images I've taken and my varying art attempts. I do not claim to be an expert in any medium, more of a Jack of all Trades but Master of None. I enjoy playing with art and seeing where I can take things.
